In South Korea, you can pay with UnionPay credit cards via signature at almost all merchants, and pay with UnionPay debit cards via PIN at over 1.63 million merchants. You can also withdraw cash in KRW at over 70,000 ATMs there. The ATMs of Woori Bank, Hana Bank, Shinhan Bank and Citibank as well as the Global ATMs of Korea Exchange Bank, SC First Bank, Jeju Bank, Daegu Bank, Busan Bank and Kwangju Bank, together with ATMs in LOTTE 24-Hour, Family Bank, NICE and HANNET at metro stations and in convenient stores, all accept UnionPay cards!

Shop online and pick-up at airports
You can shop with UnionPay cards online at the websites of many duty-free shops. Your purchase will be delivered to the airport you choose,where you can pick them up before departure.

Show your UnionPay card at the “Zaiseoul” bus station, then you may take the bus to hot travelling districts such as Myeong-Dong and Shilla Duty Free for free!

Merchants with the signage of  all accept UnionPay cards,including famous department stores, supermarkets, convenient stores and cosmetics stores like LOTTE DUTY FREE, THE SHILLA DUTY FREE, Hyundai Department Store, Asiana Airlines Duty Free and Watsons, local hotels from featured hostels to five-star hotels such as Park Hyatt Seoul, transportation tools including almost all taxies, “ZaiSeoul” shuttle bus (free of charge), and Incheon airline shuttle buses (with special offers),popular local cuisine like many restaurants in Gimhae Airport and Incheon Airport, as well as DA pizza houses, the ticket of signature entertaining spots such as the musical Sachoon and the world-class theme park “Lotte World”,etc.

Since that some of the merchants have yet to put up the UnionPay signage, cardholders may show their UnionPay cards upon the till and inquire about UnionPay acceptance.

When using co-branded cards, you are advised to choose UnionPay as the routing option to be benefited from the special offers and services provided by UnionPay.

Note：Some UnionPay card acceptors or acquirers route co-branded cards  to corresponding card shcem according to the card BIN, which means co-branded cards transactions aren't routed to UnionPay without selection by cardholders and merchant cashiers. Paying with UnionPay credit card at some local merchants requires no PIN. Cardholders can complete the payment following the instruction of the cashier. In South Korea, UnionPay cards are accepted at nearly 68,000 ATMs for withdrawing Korean Won. There are the signage of  on these ATMs or the ATM screen, and all provide the interface in Chinese.

Daily cash withdrawal limit from respective issuers and/or ATM may apply. Please consult your issuer on the possible cap on the amount. You may split your withdrawals into several times which comply with the limit(s).

ATM commission fee consists of two separate fees: 
(1) Service fee charged by the issuer: please consult your issuer for details.
(2) Service fee charged by the ATM acquirer in Korea: some ATMs will charge commission fee, which is charged by the local banks in Korea and which has nothing to do with UnionPay or the issuer.

Cash withdrawal via debit card results in a lower commission fee.

Select PINs that cannot be easily guessed by anyone.
Never disclose your PIN to anyone who claims to represent the bank or the police.
Be alert to your surroundings before conducting any banking transactions.
Keep a close eye on your credit card during transaction to avoid any illegal activities.
If your UnionPay card has been stolen/lost, please inform the issuer immediately.
