In Canada, UnionPay cards are accepted at the shops, hotels, franchised stores most frequented by tourists. Over 90% of the local ATMs accept UnionPay cards for withdrawing Canadian Dollar.

In Canada, merchants displaying the signage of  all accept UnionPay cards. Since that some of the merchants have yet to put up the UnionPay signage, cardholders may show their UnionPay cards upon the till and inquire about UnionPay acceptance.

-High-end apparel brand: Hermes, Harry Rosen, Leone, Brooks Brothers, Hugo Boss, LV, Coach
-High-end Department Stores: Holt Renfrew, Nord strom, Hudson's Bay (Toronto and Vancouver)
-Jewelry and watches: Tiffany, Cartier, Birks, Montecristo, SIBA, Royal De Versailles
-Duty free shops: WDFG at Vancouver Airport and Nuance Group at Toronto Airport
-Others: Major high-end automobile dealers in Vancouver and Toronto, major high-end Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, Great Mountain Ginseng, Montreal Airport Duty Free Shops ,Calgary International Airport Duty Free Shops,Burberry etc.

  
When using co-branded cards, you are advised to choose UnionPay as the routing option to be benefited from the special offers and services provided by UnionPay.
 
UnionPay network is currently not accessible in Canada when using UnionPay/Visa dual-logo cards.
 

Note：Some UnionPay card acceptors or acquirers route co-branded cards  to corresponding card shcem according to the card BIN, which means co-branded cards transactions aren't routed to UnionPay without selection by cardholders and merchant cashiers. Please refer to the transaction results for the information about transaction routing.

You are advised to use UnionPay debit cards for large transactions. Some of the issuer may set the upper limit of purchase amount, please contact the issuer  for solutions.
 
Please sign on the back of your card. When making purchase, please sign on the sales slip to be verified by the cashier. Please input PIN; for cards without PIN, please directly press “OK”.

Cash Withdrawal Examples
If you deposit RMB into a domestic-issued Bank of China debit card with UnionPay logo only and withdraw CAD 1,000 at an ATM of Scotiabank in Canada, UnionPay will convert the CAD amount into RMB amount based on the market exchange rate of the day and the RMB amount will be debited from your according RMB account by the issuer immediately. The commission charge for cash withdrawal consists of two parts, i.e. a commission fee of RMB 15 charged by Bank of China, and a service fee of CAD 3 charged by Scotiabank.

ATM commission fee consists of two parts:
(1)Service fee charged by the issuer: please consult the issuer for details.
(2)Service fee charged by the ATM acquirer in Canada: some ATMs will charge commission fee, which is charged by the local banks in Canada and which has nothing to do with UnionPay or the issuer.
 
Cash withdrawal via debit card results in a lower commission fee.

Select PINs that cannot be easily guessed by anyone.
Never disclose your PIN to anyone who claims to represent the bank or the police.
Be alert to your surroundings before conducting any banking transactions.
Keep a close eye on your credit card during transaction to avoid any illegal activities.
If your UnionPay card has been stolen/lost, please inform the issuer immediately.
